The Meeting: In Our Own words

Pete and I were matched on eHarmony on June 18, 2007, a few days after I joined. I remember seeing his picture and thinking "oohhh... he is cute." He messaged me the same day and we started talking through the eHarmony process. We e-mailed back and forth and talked on the phone. I was always checking my email to see if I had something new from Pete.

Our first date was July 7, 2007. We met in Kent (half way between Seattle and Puyallup) at Jamba Juice. I am always early so I got there before him. I was very nervous sitting at Jamba Juice waiting for him to show up. We had spent almost a month talking online and on the phone, but meeting in person was a whole different story. We ended up spending the day together. We walked around drinking our smoothies and decided to see Sicko at the movie theater. About half way through the movie Pete reached over and held my hand! It was very hard to concentrate on the movie at that point. I was giddy when I was driving home... I had met a funny, cute, intelligent guy and I couldn't wait to meet up with him again!

I started driving to Seattle during the week to meet up with Pete when he got off work. We were always doing something fun! Some of our adventures included art museums, walks on the beach, ferry rides, dancing, and hot air balloons. We also took amazing trips to San Francisco, New York, and Hawaii. I had a blast taking Pete snorkeling for the first time in Hawaii. Since Pete moved to California I have taken LOTS of trips to visit him and enjoy the sunshine.

On August 15, 2010 Pete asked me to marry him! I was exploding with happiness and I had to tell everyone! I spent the entire day staring at the ring, which can be dangerous when you are hiking. Luckily, I didn't fall and break my leg. I still find myself staring at my beautiful ring.

I am very excited for our wedding and Honeymoon, but I am more excited to spend my life with Pete. I look forward to new adventures and memories as a married couple.

I originally met Ms. Bonagofsky somewhere in Washington, on July 7th, 2007. The date of course, being 7/7/7, an interesting number even if you are not superstitious or fond of numerology. This was one day before Boeing's roll-out of the 7/8/7, which now more than 3 years later is not for sale. But I digress.

But this was not a chance encounter. Being unable to mate on my home planet and having recently relocated to Earth, I elected to use the internet to find a sufficient life partner, whereupon I stumbled onto Ms. Jessica. After a few brief email exchanges and an even briefer telephone conversation, I asked her to meet with me.

Now when you meet someone you've only met online, you always want to have a quick escape method. So you don't offer to take them to dinner, or to a movie, or any such time-consuming event. As such, I invited her to meet at a nearby Jamba Juice so that I could finish my juice and leave quickly, given the high probability of failure I ascribed to the meeting.

But then there was happy Jessica. A little nervous and quieter than the usual Jessica, but still the same person, which I liked right away. So we got juice. I can't remember if I paid, or if she paid, or if we both paid for ourselves. Hopefully I didn't pay, because I don't want to raise a free-loader here, and there are no free rides.

I don't remember what we talked about. I do remember we finished our juices and then went walking around a shopping area, and I believe we ended up at a 50s diner. I think it was a few hours in to this first meeting, whatever you want to call it, that I asked her if she wanted to see the new Michael Moore movie, "Sicko".

So the originally planned for 20 minute meeting carried on for something like 6 hours. It turned into the traditional long first date: drinks, food, movie. After the movie I abruptly ended it and said we should see each other again, because I didn't want Jessica to have too much of a good thing (me). Anyway, that's how it started.... And the rest is pending.
